Comins Township is located in the near-northeast corner of Oscoda County. It consists of a mixture of hilly, fertile farmland to the west and the Huron National Forest to the east, and includes a few private lakes, camps and ranches. Its largest community is Fairview, situated at the north junction of M-33 and M-72,
about nine miles northeast of Mio.

The Comins Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on October 22, 2026, at 6:00 PM to recommend adoption of a new Zoning Ordinance to the Township Board. The new zoning ordinance will replace the current zoning ordinance in its entirety. The public hearing will be held at the Township Offices at 1651 N Abbe Rd, Fairview MI.
